For Energy Management services, B&A markets directly to restaurants with our alliance partner: NOVAR, a division of Honeywell International. Novar is the industry leader in multi-unit energy management, with nearly 60% market share in the retail segment and experience in over 40,000 locations.

Novar (and Honeywell) selected B&A as its exclusive business development partner in the restaurant market due to our specific expertise and track record in the restaurant industry.

Bisbee & Associates and Novar launched the partnership in June 2009. We have since worked with Novar to craft its suite of products and services to fit the specific needs of the restaurant industry, including:

  • Cost effective deployment—Typical economic delivery of ROIs exceeding 35% or first-year energy cost reductions of between 7-15%, depending on the market segment and location of the stores
  • Enterprise management—Deployment of standards across the entire enterprise, including national, regional, area, and local “drill down / scale up” capabilities. Completely flexible scheduling and set point management

Energy Conservation Technology Deployment

Energy Management is an important first step for most of B&A’s restaurant clients. The data the systems provide create a backbone of information that can be used to drive further energy reductions and conservation measures.

B&A then has the ability to outsource the selection, management, and installation of energy conservation technologies in restaurant locations.

B&A has both the implementation management experience as well as the technology partners to deploy energy conservation measures on behalf of restaurants, including—

  • Rooftop HVAC unit replacement—Predicting HVAC unit life & strategically replacing units prior to failure. Best-in-class manufacturing solutions to maximize savings. In many cases, financing packages and documented energy savings can be self-funding.
  • Lighting upgrades & retrofits—Implementation of fluorescent and LED technologies deployed in kitchens, dining rooms, and exterior settings to maximize energy savings and generate immediate returns.
  • Kitchen equipment control / scheduling—As a build-out to the energy management systems, more advanced control and monitoring solutions to drive further energy savings
  • Maintenance coordination / implementation—Development of preventive and predictive maintenance programs, including networks of quality providers, to be deployed across restaurant enterprises
  • Physical envelope upgrades—Upgrades to roofing materials, insulation, window coatings, and other areas to drive reductions in energy losses

In all cases, B&A will verify performance and projected ROIs / cash flows.

Renewable Energy Deployment

Wind Power On SiteA very new and growing area of concentration for many restaurants is the deployment of on-site renewable energy technologies. This can include solar panels, on-site renewable generation, geothermal wells, or even small-scale wind turbines.
